Case summary
Court held that the trial judge had misdirected himself on the law principle applicable by asking the appellant to avail certified copies yet the institution had ceased operations 28 years prior. Court added that the right option was the court to require the document to bear signature and seal of office of Foreign Service Officer or British consul to ascertain authenticity. Court accordingly allowed the appeal, and declared the applicant as having been validly elected.
