It's functions include: Hearing appeal cases from the Magistrates' courts in connection with torts committed against the person, Defamation, Bankruptcy and company winding up matters, Partnership matters,Companies matters, Real and personal property.

Law Reform Act (Cap 7) — Next‑friend and particulars for minors — compliance with section 10 suffices. Disability extension (Act 20/69 s.4) — minors may benefit and their claims not time‑barred despite scheduled corporation one‑year rule.
