Medical evidence contradicting the complainant's account undermined the sole identifying witness, resulting in the accused's acquittal.
Criminal law — Defilement (s.123(1) Penal Code) — elements: intercourse, female under 18, accused male. Evidence — medical report versus complainant’s account — weight of agreed medical evidence. Credibility — contradictions and deliberate untruth by sole identifying witness — inability to sever false parts from the remainder. Burden of proof — prosecution must establish all elements beyond reasonable doubt. Corroboration — need for reliable corroboration where sole witness’s credibility is impugned.
