Case summary
The court considered whether or not to grant the applicant bail. The court held that the length of the term of imprisonment against which the applicant was appealing could be one of the factors that could induce a convict to abscond. The court was satisfied that the sentence of 11 years and nine months imprisonment against which the applicant was appealing was long that it could tempt her to flee. The court accordingly declined to grant the applicant bail pending appeal.
