Case summary
The issue of corroboration arose and court held that her story was consistent with that of other witnesses who saw blood on her dress and saw her walk with difficulty. Also, the testimony of her mother who examined her and found her vagina badly torn and oozing with blood was found to be truthful.   On the issue of mistaken identity court held that the evidence points the judge at the accused as the person who committed the crime. That he was known by one of the witnesses before the incidence, he spent measurable amount of time with the victim and it was during broad day light. That the victim also easily identified him when they went to his detachment and the defence of mistaken identity could not arise.
